Offbeat Mara is a small, traditional safari camp, situated within the 74,000 acre Mara North Conservancy (MNC). The area is full of wildlife yet far from any other camp or lodge. MNC is only open to member camps and has a strict policy on game viewing etiquette. For these reasons our guests get a wholly exclusive experience that is otherwise becoming hard to find.
Offbeat Mara maintains its private homely feel by consisting of only seven tents. There are four doubles/twins and three family tents. The heart of the camp is the main ‘mess’ tent which has a sitting room , dining room and bar/library area. All the accommodation tents are en suite with flush loos and traditional hot safari showers. Each tent has its own veranda and is carefully positioned to offer wonderful views as well as privacy. For a detailed fact sheet on accommodation and facilities at Offbeat Mara,
Offbeat Mara Camp is a 7 tent traditional semi-permanent camp. Situated on an un- spoilt part of Masailand, an area full of wildlife but far from any other camp or lodge. The MNC has fantastic wildlife viewing all year round, including the Offbeat Lion pride just outside of camp. The camp’s mess and dining tents are central to the camps layout. Informal dining is hosted in the dining tent or around the campfire. Delicious English breakfasts, lighter lunches and three course dinners are served each evening. Guests can also relax in the bar and living room tent, which is furnished with comfortable sofas, a writing desk, and library and fully stocked bar. Close by the mess area is a small gift shop, campfire and a wifi and charging tent (on between 6pm – 10pm). All game drive vehicles are also equipped with charging sockets which can be used during game drives.
Offbeat Mara Camp works closely with the local Maasai community and 90% of our staff are from this area. All our guides are graduates of the Koiyaki Guiding School and all have KPSGA SILVER badges.
The Mara offers amazing wildlife viewing throughout the year and features the annual wildebeest migration in July to September.
